when fancy is not a guarantee

I have already forgotten the name of this pseudo-tea/coffee shop in Norwich except for the fancy look and most of all, the fancy price. Believe me, not all that glitters is gold.

PS - Oh, it's Macarons & More.

when difference makes it difficult

We poetise how explicit and discernible difference between actions, people, words, culture and everything that's considered as matter, as expression, au naturale and a figment of life's vibrancy. Then you see the other face and how it impacts us. You realise how homogeneity takes the upper hand of logic; of sense.

Satiety of saturation point tips the balance. Repercussions can be unfavourable and emotionally challenging. Man is a contradiction. Its polar opposite usually seeks a suitable milieu, something I am in dire need to intersect with. But time has its other plans.

that time

It's been awhile since we've been on our last holiday.

My body is yearning for a bit of sun, sand, sea and scenery. July is around the corner and this first holiday is long overdue. Refueling the body and soul is paramount to living and low fuel tank is like depression just waiting to be awakened from its dormant phase.

I love my job and the people that surround me. However, a plateau is my least favourite terrain and I need texture and variation.... just sometimes.

attention seeking

Typical... just typical.

I have deadlines tomorrow and distractions from this adorable being is just TOO MUCH... too much to ignore.

Sigh.

Isn't Barney the most beautiful pooch EVER?!!!!!

Rishi

For more than two years, we were just passing by this restaurant and just imagined what it's like to dine there. We didn't really have that motivation or the strong urge to eat "Asian" until the other day when we struggled to decide whether Italian or Spanish would be a good idea for dinner. We cancelled the thought of pastas and tapas and settled for something Indian.

RISHI is an authentic Bangladeshi resto. After our meal, we knew we made the most important decision about dining out. Here's why I loved my first visit at Rishi's:

- waiting staff were polite and mindful of our needs
- food was served on time (it arrived before I could remind myself of what I ordered)
- Bengali music was playing
- paintings of asian culture (not pretentious to hang a generic piece of art that's aiming to please)
- food was YUMMMMMMMMY

We will visit again and order that "pan de coco" NAN BREAD.

a hard earned ILR and fish and chips for consolation

It took us (Gelo and I) 12 hours to complete the London journey.

I purposely booked Gelo's "Indefinite Leave to Remain" appointment at Croydon UKBA Immigration Office as late as possible hoping that we'd have enough time to make it and have coffee in between. We were proved wrong. A11 road was packed at 7:30 am and reaching London, the Blackwall Tunnel was closed due to fire. The pile up of cars in London was a dreary and disappointing sight. The bumper to bumper traffic extended for miles and unable to take side streets as a refuge, we urinated in cups and doused it empty along the side of car. We were getting looks from people behind us. But nature is something we cannot fight. We don't even compromise; we just give in.  Our appointment at 11:10 was an impossible target and we were cursing the heavens for its failure to make divine interventions (more like me).

In short, we circumnavigated the whole of London inch by inch and at the earliest opportunity, we drove outwards down to Kent, through to another tunnel and back up north to London via a different route. It was 13:30 when we reached the destination. The guard was stern but gave in to our horror journey stories. It was a relief. More than two hours later, Gelo was approved of his ILR. We knew that driving out of London back to Norwich would be revisiting the same nightmare but a good old, reliable fish and chips from Harry Ramsden saved my brewing bad temper.

Six hours later, we parked outside the house and I felt truly old after that.

study

These past two years, I have been doing more than my "old" profession permits me to do. I am now involved in inter-professional learning and that means, I develop and deliver training for Therapists as well (SALT, Physios, OTs etc). Thanks to my Clinical Education background.

Being mindful of this professional "happening", I thought of broadening my horizon and take on Clinical Education for Rehabilitation Services. In the next year or so, my free education will take me to another dimension of learning. I am excited about it.

First day at university, I was surrounded by PHD and Med students taking on FURTHER QUALITATIVE module. I am ambivalent about this move but I have faith in me. Thousands of pounds spent on me by my employer is good enough to goad me into action.
